FCE - Writing Task: a letter to a friend

You have received the following letter from your English-speaking friend.

.............Thanks for inviting me to stay with you when I visit your country next month.

I'm not sure how to get to your apartment from the airport. Could you write back giving me some basic instructions? What would be the best method of transport for me? I'd prefer one that isn't too expensive!
Just one other thing - what will the weather be like when I get there? (Just so I'll know what clothes to pack!) .........

Write your letter of reply to your friend (around 120-180 words).

    Dear Juliana,
How are you? I hope everything it is doing great. I am so glad that you will be able to stay at my place, and do not worry about how to get to my apartment, of course I will pick up at the airport. But if you want to go out to visit the city while I am working the best method of transport is the subway, and one of the cheapest.
It is pretty hot in here, and very it is also a wet weather, so the more light your clothers are, the better will be for you.
So that's it. I hope to hear from you soon, and I am counting the days of your coming.
    Love, Carol.

  3. Dear Carol,
How are you? It will be a pleasure to have you here visiting my country. It will be amazing and I am sure you will love it. How about the preparatives?
Oh girl, I will pick you up at the airport, don't worry about it. Tell me when your plane will arrrive, so that I can be on time there.
Oh... The weather here is good, sun all day long, no clouds, no rain and it's too hot, the temperature is around 33ºC. Pick many summer clothes, okay?
I am looking foward to it. We will go on many different places here, you will meet new people and I'm sure we will have a great and wonderful time together :)
    See you latter, kisses Juliana.

  4. Hey dear, how are you ?
I don't even have to say that it will be a plasure to be with you in my house in your first time in Brasil, do I?. You will love here, it is an adorable country and I'm sure we will have a lot of things to enjoy. I really apologise for not pick you up at the airport but I will have an important interview of work in the same time that you will be arriving, thats why I can not miss it.
Well, my apartment is a litlle bit far from the airport but it is extremely easy to get there. When you get out of the airport it will be a lot of taxi's outside ( it is not the cheeper method of trasnport here, but it is the only one that you will find there, so it will be easier for you). You take one of them and ask the driver to go to sudoeste. Tell him that it is the first block after " eixo monumental". He will find very quickly, you will see.
When you arrive, the weather will probably be hot. But we have a problem in our city, besides being hot it is extremely dry, you will might feel it. So it will be better if you bring summer clothes, like dresses.(forget your winter clothes at all).
So, I thing that's all. I hope you enjoy our contry.
    Kisses and see you soon,
    Letícia.

    Dear Vanessa,
It will a plaser to me spending this days with you. I love you so much and you know this. I'm sure you really will adore Brazil, specially Brasília. In fact, the city where I borned it's the less tradicional city of my country, but, in my opinion, this is the most interesting about here.
Brasília hadn't a good public transports, especially in the airport, so, unfortunatelly, I believe taking a taxi probably will be the better option, but the most expensive. However, if you compare the price of to take a taxi in Brasília with the same action in New York, I'm sure you will be very satisfacted. Copy my adress, how like it is writted in this letter, in a piece of paper and show this to the conductor. You won't have difficults to arrive in my apartament. It's very easy getting in my adress.
You will visit here in October, so it's important to going shopping and bring clothes to rain and sun, because probably it will be a shine weather here, but always rain a lot of days.
I'm very happy about your vacations in Brazil and I'm so ansious to see you again. I miss you.
    Until October,
    Rogéria

  6. Dear Julia,

I'm glad to know that you are going to visit me next month. You will love Brazil! You'll see.
In the front part of the Brasilia International Airport there is a bus station (it's near a flower store). There you'll get the bus that goes to the "Rodoviária do Plano Piloto". I think it's the 121 but i'm not sure. Arriving at the "Rodoviária" (a kind of buss station) you will get any bus that passes through the L2 street. Once there, you will follow the signs os the blocks until the 412N block, where you'll drop off and search for building "H". My apartment is the 304.

Until october we will have a "desert time" here. The temperature varies from 14ºC to 30ºC and the air ir very dry (and dusty). Bring summer clothes and one ore two jackets.

The good part of this part of the year is that we'll sunny days all time, so prepare yourself to amazing waterfalls that we'll travel to.

    Hope see you soon. Kisses!

    Pedro.

  7. Dear friend,
I'm so excited that you're coming to visit me! I can't wait to see you again! I'm planning a lot of things that we'll do during your stay here, but I'll show it to you only when you arrive. By now, the only thing you have to do is to prepare yourself for the travel.
About your first question, I was thinking how is the best way to arrive in my house from the airport... In my city the public transportation isn't so good. When I travel, I really prefer to take a taxi to arrive home. It's not too expensive if you call a taxi (don't take the ones that are parked in the airport). But, I was checking the time of your flight and I have a solution. You can take a bus that goes directly to downtown, near my work. It costs only 8 reais (I think). So I can pick you up. For me, it will be Ok because you will arrive in the lunch time.
About the weather, here is really hot these days. So, bring summer clothes. But, don't forget an umbrella, because next month start the rain season (everybody here is praying for it).
Well, this is it. I'm sure that you'll have a great time here.
    Kisses. See you.
    Dany

  8. Hello my friend you want to come to my apartment from the airport you have to take a taxi and tell the taxidriver to go to the Southwest Sector Block K Square 102 Apartment 208. And the best method of transportation for you is the underground transport because is cheap here in the city. The other way of transportation for you here is some buses that busdrivers transport passengers to other places of the city. As well the weather here in the city is very hot and sunny. As you see you can pack clothes like T-shirts, shirts and some shorts,if you want to go to swim pack a swimming kit. As well as you see the situation of the city I recommend you drink a liter of water every day. And you can drink some cold beverages here. Well you can eat some food but don't eat too much or you get sick. If you want to have a healthy life here go to the clubs and go swimming in the pool or play tennis. And if you like here we go to the museums of the city. And to conclude the letter when you come to my country don't forget to phone me with the cellphone. Thank you for sending the letter.

  10. Dear Peter,

I'm really glad you'll visit me next month. We'll have a great time, Brasília is a beautiful place and there are lots of entertaiment programs to do, we just need to go to the right places.
As you know, I work at the airport. The only problem is that I'm not there every day, usually I go flying from thursday to sunday. If you arrive during these days of the week, the best thing you can do is to take the executive bus that leaves the airport hourly and goes to the hotel sector in downtown (here in Brasília everything is divided into sectors).
Once you get at downtown, it would be better to take a taxi, the bus service to get at Sudoeste, the neighbourhood I live, isn't very often. Doing this way, it won't be expensive and you'll have a city tour taking the executive bus.
Otherwise, if you arrive here at the other days of the week, I can pick you up at the airport, I'll be already there.
Talking about the weather here, you'll arrive at the spring season, so it's going to be warm and rainy, you can bring light clothes.
Looking forward to see you soon,

    João Pedro

  11. Hello, my good friend Walter, great is my joy to see you, I know my English is no longer the same since the good old days of FISK, but I will venture to write, even with some spelling or grammatical errors ... wanted to be able to do even part of this family around him, a family that has more than a teacher but a friend, a brother, a father, finally a person for life! How are things Uncle Walter?
I want you to know I'll always be here and always tell with your precious friendship!!

    Hugs Uncle Walter!
