FCE - AN EXCHANGE PROGRAMME ADVICE

Some British students are on an exchange programme at your college for a month . The college has asked you to write a report on local shopping facilities for the teacher who is in charge of the group. You should give advice on best value for money, including areas such as food, study materials  and souvenirs.

Write your report.

  1. Dear Teacher,
i think that the British students will like the Shopping Flamboyant. It's a big and beautiful mall where they can find as much souvenirs as they want, and it has a good price. About the food, i think that they'll like the T-63 avenue. There they'll find a big diversity of food with good prices, and i suggest the Sapporo's food, for the ones who like Japanese food. It's wonderful and the place is pleasant.
For the study materials, i'll advice you to take them at 3° Avenue. There the students will find a variaty of stores with different tipes of books. And the best one, wich has the best price too, it's the 3° Avenue Bookless, it's amazying.
    That's all.
    Kisses.

  2. Dear teacher Walter,
you are so lucky, because the neighbourhood where you are is full of malls and markets.
The mall in front of school is a good one to buy study and office materials. There is a big store called "Kalunga", where you and your students will find all kinds of books, articles, magazines, computers and office stuffs. It's not very cheap, but certainly you'll find everything you are looking for. There are other stores of office stuffs in the mall, but I don't remember the name this moment. You can ask any employee inside the mall and they will guide you.
This mall has a very nice food court, where you'll finf all kinds of food: Italian, Japanese, American, Chinese and, for sure, Brazilian. You must taste a "feijoada", it's a kind of black bean cooked with smoked pig meat. It's amazing!
Talking about souvenirs, there is a market just behind the college, Afonso Pena Avenue. There you'll find all kind of local souvenirs, with a very interesting price. You should always ask for a discount because they alwaygive it. And if you are going to pay in cas, ask for more discount! In this market you can watch some presentations and eat local foods, too. There are amazing things to do, buy and eat there. I really recomend it!
Well, if you need more advice, I can send you. These options are good and close to the college. There are lots of another options, but you'll need to taxi a bus or a taxi.
I hope you have a nice moment!
    Sincerely,
    Roberta

  5. To the goup leader,
The college ask me to give you and your group some tips about money, food, study materials and suveniers.
well, first thing, and the most important one is money. You probably have already change some of your oney for our local one. My advice is that uou don't change averything at one exchange house, some of them put a lower price to you money so you will spend more. Try to keep distans from the ones that are in the malls, they take a very hight comission, prefer the ones that are on regulars streets.
Another important metter is food, go to places where most of the natives go, avoid expencive restaurants, they serv the same food as others but they cust more. In my point of view the self-service are the best choise for a cheeper meal, some of them have that special home touch. The fast foods, for teens are the favorite kind of food, if you want to try a local fast food you shoud go to Sky's their meals is cheeper and is from Brazil!
For study materials you shoud probably try to find some books in what we call "Sebos" the sell old books or books that had been used before, if you can find what you are looking for talk to the older students they probably have the books from their last classes.
The favorit part of the trip are the suveniers, don't go out for shopping at the last day, bay little by lettle so you won't forget anything or anyone. Most of the city most famous places have thigs that you can bay, they are a little bit expensive but you can run from that!
So I hope you have a goos trip!

  6. Dear teacher,
There are great places to visit here in Brasília that is interesting for the British students thar are on the exchange programme.

The first place that they might go is the shop that is close to the TV tower. The students will find there great souvenirs. Another great place to buy cheap things is in "Feira dos importados".

They should go, at night, to "110 sul". It is a street that has all kinds of restaurants and they will have plenty of good options to eat.

There is a local newspaper that is called "Correio Braziliense" that has information about the city and you can find out about the events that are happening. Beyond that, this newspaper is a good place to learn our language.

    That's all.

  7. Dear Walter Miranda,

Shopping is a good topic to focus with tenagers and some adults in exchange program. I really like shopping.

So, in your trip you can search for good reastaurants, but don't spend all time eating everything. Try to do house and decoration. It is a good issue to teach english. I personaly think that to know the parts of the houses is essential to comunicate. It's is important to exchabge experiences.

House and decoration can show you some souvernirs to bring to us. Don't forget the friends. There are some souvernirs placen in the north of the city that you can buy cheap things, like here in TV Tower.

Have a nice trip and don't dink all beers.

    See you soon.

    Marcos

  8. Teacher walter,
To improve your visit to my city, I am sponsored to write to you about some good places that we have here.
First of all, I want you to know a restaurant called birosca, it is near the school and has an excellent priceless food, there they serve the best chicken wings of the entire city.
Talking about shopping things, you really have to visit our opened air market that sells a lot of hand made stuffs that you could buy to your relatives, I asure you that they will be very grateful.
There is a lake called paranoá that you can swim and go fishing with your students, but take care with the a big fish called tunhó because it is poisonous.
Finally you may find some study materials at the national library that sells a lot of interesting books that you can find only there, actually it is a nice place to study too.

  9. Hello Teacher,

You and your students you love Brasilia, and also, will love the college where you going to stay.
There are a lot of things to do here starting with places to buy like "Feira dos Importados" where you find everything you want from clothes to eletronics, and the most important, it's the cheapest place on Brasilia.
At the college you can find all you need to spend a mounth here, there are restaurants, stores where you find everything releted study materials and a very good room to sleep.

  10. Dear Teacher,
Thanks for the oportunity to be your tourist guide during this month. First, I will tell you about shopping. There are some incredibles places which you can find very good stuff. For those who are more sofisticaded and have more money to spend, they can go to ParkShopping beacuse they will find a lot of famous and known stores. In the other hand, for those who have no money enough, a better place could be the Feira dos importados, where they can find cheapier things and get more discounts.
Another amazing place is the TV Tower. You can have a great view from the city, besides there are very good snacks there.
    Yours sincerelly
    Romulo

  11. Dear Walter Miranda,
Actually, I think that you´ve already known many pleasant places in Brasília for you´ve been here other times.
As we don´t have beaches in the city we make use of some different things to do like going to the mall for window shopping or even to buy brasilian typical stuff there.
You may take part into other activities such walk with the students along the squares in South and North side of Brasília to see interesting restaurants. There you guys can taste any kind of food, for you´ll have many options to chose.
Thinking about the study materials, I can also give you some store´s names that sells books. After that, you´ll be able to consider what is the best place to buy them.
    BEST WISHES, MIGA.
